Dr Rooks license revoked

Tuesday, January 13th, 2004

Before you go to the Veterinarian that you may have been referred to:
Too many vets are still referring people unknowingly.
Justice can, and does happen.
BREAKING NEWS FROM CALIFORNIA! ROBERT L. ROOKS, DVM, FOUND IN VIOLATION OF
STATUTES, LICENSE REVOKED (stayed), PREMISES PERMIT REVOKED (stayed), ROOKS PUT
ON THREE YEARS’ PROBATION. Fountain Valley, CA, veterinarian Robert L. Rooks,
DVM, owner of All-Care Animal Referral Center, was found in violation of
statutes and has received disciplinary action, including the revocation
(stayed) of his license to practice veterinary medicine. The California
Veterinary Medical Board adopted a proposed judgment by administrative law
judge Alan S. Meth. The judge found the following: deception, use of illegal
practitioners, aiding and abetting the unlicensed practice of veterinary
medicine, and allowing unregistered assistants to do anesthesia and medical
procedures. Rooks was placed on three years’ probation, ordered to pay $5,000
in fines, plus $83,300 for investigative and prosecution costs, for a total of
$88,300. In addition, Rooks is not allowed to supervise or teach interns.
October 15 — California Board upholds its decision despite Rooks’ efforts to
get disciplinary action reversed.

Think ahead!

Thursday, January 8th, 2004

All puppies are cute, cuddly and fun to be with- but just think ahead. One, two okay ten months later you have a grown dog. What do you want that big dog to do and be every day? I just got a dog back- the first one I have ever had returned. This yellow girl was in training to be a search and rescue dog but did not have enough focus to do the job and yet turn the hose on and you have unlimited focus on moving water. Dogs are like that- what they learn first they learn best. Want your dog to focus on you? Hey what a concept why not teach it from the start? Make sure you (not the darn hose) are the center of your pups universe.

There is nothing wrong with this dog that chases water but it is a trait that annoys me to no end- a funny saying but true. I really don’t like living with dogs that chase water out of the end of the hose- it is cold in Januarary even in Ojai- really! And to clean up and have this dog chasing the water and completey ignoring anything else around her- and for what? So that both of us end up drenched as she chases the elusive end of the stream? Ridiculous. Like any repetitive behavior it is fun for her but think if that same focus and energy had been channeled a bit differently? Maybe she would be searching for victims like her two sisters? Don’t satrt anything in puppy hood that you don’t want for the next 14 years! And the corralary, you always get what you train for- in all ways.
